Homecare Volunteer

Connecticut Hospice Homecare Volunteers have an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients who have terminal illnesses. The type of homecare visits are as follows:Respite: Sit with patient while caregiver runs errands, has doctor appointments, etc. This will be in a private home.Enrichment: Many patients are very lonely and would like to talk, play cards, have a book or newspaper read to them, etc. They may be in a skilled nursing facility, assisted living or private home. It helps facilitate travel from a person's home to their doctor's office and back. Medical chaperone volunteers are available to provide essential support, offering door-to-door assistance. These chaperones can offer to drive individuals directly, if ambulatory or accompany them if alternative transportation options are utilized, ensuring a safe and supportive journey. Appointments are typically prescheduled and episodic, but some folks have established relationships that offer consistency for all.
