Join our Track Maintenance Crew! Help preserve the rich history of trolley transportation while gaining hands-on experience in track upkeep and restoration.
What You’ll Do:
Inspect and Maintain Tracks: Ensure the safety and reliability of our historic trolley tracks by performing routine inspections, minor repairs, and general upkeep.
Work with a Team: Collaborate with a passionate group of volunteers and staff who share your love for railways and history.
Learn New Skills: Gain knowledge in track maintenance, tools, and techniques—no prior experience required!
Contribute to History: Play a vital role in preserving and operating the oldest continuously running suburban trolley line in the U.S.

Located in East Haven and Branford, CT, we are home to the oldest continuously operating suburban trolley line in the U.S. and a National Historic Landmark. Our mission is to preserve and share the rich history of trolleys, railways, and transportation with the public. We’re looking for passionate volunteers to help in various areas, including: Trolley Operations Restoration Projects Track Crew Special Events Tour Guides Museum Store and Ticket Agent Office Work Groundskeeping Building Maintenance and Physical Plant Public Speakers and Outreach Marketing and Media and much more! Whether you love history, enjoy working with the public, or want to learn new skills, there’s a place for you at the Shore Line Trolley Museum. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to learn and a passion for preserving history.
