Thank you for your consideration of our opportunities. We are in need to volunteers to help lead programming during our regular meetings. We are looking for:
Volunteers with a particular skill, talent or anything else they enjoy sharing with and teaching to young children up to 5th or 6th grade. It can be arts, crafts, music, gardening, anything that you are interested in really!
Volunteers who are interested in helping facilitate the programming that we plan and run. We do things like make ice cream by hand, sew stuffies for ourselves and pets, make and send greeting cards, fishing at Chatfield Hollow, etc.

If you have time on Sunday evenings to help run our programming, please contact me!
We are completely volunteer run - doing this work so that our kids can live beyond representation and experience other LGBTQ+ and ally families as part of their everyday communities. Appreciate you being part of it!
About Scouting for Our Community, Inc.
We're a group of LGBTQ+ and ally families on the Connecticut Shoreline. Through Scouting for Our Community, we live beyond representation. Where our children do more than see families like theirs only in books and annual events. But where our children experience LGBTQ+ and ally families as a regular part of their community and circles of love. The verb scouting is our inspiration for being explorers, for our openness to new things, and for the sense of adventure and belonging we advance.We are completely independent and have no affiliation to or connection with other groups like Scouting America, the Boy Scouts or the Girl Scouts.The design of Scouting for Our Community follows four program areas:Community Service: We volunteer and live our values through service. Examples include park cleanups and volunteering at community events.Experiences and Adventures: We explore our world through outdoor opportunities including camping, hiking, and fishing, as well as cultural activities, guest speakers, and more.Skills Building: We learn and develop our skills through the arts, crafts, sewing, public speaking, drawing, science and more. Building Bonds: We create connections between families, including through special events, area excursions, and socializing built into our regularly scheduled meetings.We embrace, embody, and live out loud our values: Pride, Kindness, Empathy, Respect, Love, Belonging, Compassion, Wellness, Learning, Stewardship, Allyship and Community. We meet every other Sunday in Madison from 4 - 5:30. In off weeks, we have special events and excursions. Our program year runs from September - June. We piloted our concept in 2025-26 and, following proof of concept, incorporated as a non profit in May.
