Come and Read to the Animals! This program is a positive way for animals to interact with people while also providing therapy to them. For this program, you will bring a book of your choosing and we recommend that you bring a pillow or blanket to sit on while reading to your chosen animal! Reading to the Animals typically last around 45 minutes.

Our Tails to Trails program is a dog walking program that offers volunteers the opportunity to bring our shelter dogs to off-site trail locations approved by staff and our dog trainer!In order to become a Tails to Trails volunteer, you must complete our volunteer orientation program in addition to 2 Dog Handling and Safety Classes with our staff dog trainer. You also must be 25 years of age with your own transportation to participate. Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer! Our general volunteer orientation is for those looking to help in the shelter, where you'll have the chance to work with cats, critters, and even sometimes dogs—additional training is required to work with dogs. As a volunteer, you’ll play a vital role in helping us care for our animals by assisting with cleaning, socializing, and organizing! We welcome volunteers of all ages! However, please note that anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
