This free program is designed to assist individuals in need of support and/or transportation to and from medical appointments. It helps facilitate travel from a person's home to their doctor's office and back. Medical chaperone volunteers are available to provide essential support, offering door-to-door assistance. These chaperones can offer to drive individuals directly, if ambulatory or accompany them if alternative transportation options are utilized, ensuring a safe and supportive journey. Appointments are typically prescheduled and episodic, but some folks have established relationships that offer consistency for all.

This volunteer opportunity is open to individuals 18 years old and beyond. Striving to maintain your independence can be challenging, especially if you find yourself without a nearby family or you’ve leaned on your friends one too many times. In those moments, it’s easy to allow yourself to feel isolated, but if you ask, there may be someone in your local area who can offer a hand to help. That’s where the Neighbor Helping Neighbor program comes in, offering infrequent or episodic support to someone who just needs a little help to maintain their independence. It could be a weekly check-in call, a monthly ride to the bank, or picking up some groceries and carrying them into the house

We are all aware that isolation and loneliness are significant issues in our society. Did you know that just a few hours of your time can make a difference for someone in need? The RSVP volunteer program at the Agency on Aging is actively seeking volunteers who are ready to engage in meaningful conversations and connections. Many individuals can no longer drive, making trips to the grocery store essential for promoting independence and a sense of belonging. The program has established onboarding procedures to ensure the safety and appropriateness of interactions for both volunteers and recipients. Please join us in making a difference!
