This free program is designed to assist individuals in need of support and/or transportation to and from medical appointments. It helps facilitate travel from a person's home to their doctor's office and back. Medical chaperone volunteers are available to provide essential support, offering door-to-door assistance. These chaperones can offer to drive individuals directly, if ambulatory or accompany them if alternative transportation options are utilized, ensuring a safe and supportive journey. Appointments are typically prescheduled and episodic, but some folks have established relationships that offer consistency for all.

Maintaining your independence can be challenging, especially if you don't have family nearby or you’ve leaned on your friends too often. In those moments, it’s easy to feel isolated, but if you ask, someone in your local area may be able to help.That’s where the Neighbor Helping Neighbor program comes in, offering infrequent or episodic support to someone who needs a little help to maintain their independence.We recently met with a 99-year-old woman who still lives alone in her neat and orderly apartment with a resilient sense of humor. Unable to access the local transportation due to the height of the steps, she would benefit from someone who'd take and accompany her during her weekly shopping trips.
